Q: Does being a multiple affect language development like developing Twin-Talk?
A: Twin talk is actually a relatively uncommon phenomenon; however, multiple birth children (identical and fraternal) frequently pronounce newly learned words or phrases incorrectly then reinforce the mispronunciation among each other. Because a multiple birth household may have more “negative” role models (children of like age) than appropriate expressive speech role models, these mispronunciations may appear to be a twin language but are not.
