Preeclampsia Awareness Month

About 1 out of 3 women pregnant with multiples reported in the MOST Medical Birth Survey a diagnosis of high blood pressure or preeclampsia. Signs and symptoms can be subtle.  Do you know the signs and symptoms? Visit The Preeclampsia Foundation for info (English and Spanish). If you are an expectant parent of triplets, quads or quints you MUST get MOST’s book: Expecting Multiples: A Comprehensive Guide as early in your pregnancy as possible.

National Women’s Health Week

May 13-19th is National Women’s Health Week. The theme for 2012 is “It’s Your Time” and encourages women to make their health a top priority. Your health is important!  The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health recommends women should visit a health care professional to receive regular checkups and preventive screenings. Do you know what tests and screenings are recommended for a woman of your age? Be a positive role model by being active, eating healthy, getting enough sleep (or at least try to), not smoking, and always wearing a seat belt and bicycle helmet.
