National Children’s Dental Month

Did you have to rob a bank on your way to the dentist the last time you took your kids in for a check-up? Managing the cost of medical care for multiples is often difficult. Luckily, February is National Children’s Dental Health Month, sponsored by the American Dental Association.

Through the Give Kids A Smile program (which is available year-round, but highlighted during NCDHM), families can access quality dental care at little or no cost. To find a program in your state and to see if you qualify, visit Give Kids A Smile.

The ADA also has some cute activity sheets for kids available to download (in English or Spanish) that might help make a first visit to the dentist less scary.

Adopt A Family Wrap Up

The 14th year for the Holiday Adopt a Family program started early because of Superstorm Sandy.  MOST reached out to dozens of families in the affected area and identified those families most in need.  We were able to quickly help some local families with items that made their relocation easier, including clothing, cleaning supplies and money to purchase bunk beds.

A few of those families still needed help at holiday time and were added to the AAF roster.  Adopt a Family donors, MOST staff and volunteers brought holiday cheer to 23 families and 102 children! A sampling of thank you notes we received appear below.

We were also lucky enough to be interviewed by FIOS 1 News, doing a story for their Miracles of the Season segment.  Adopt a Family is a truly wonderful program. Thank you to everyone who dedicated their time and effort to make the holidays brighter for our families who needed it most!  Notes from three families are below.

Thank You MOST!

From three Adopt A Family recipients

Dear Kind Person,  A very big thanks to a person who helped my husband and I give our four kids the Christmas they deserved. Having lost our home in the storm we also lost all the gifts I had bought in advance. They all got what they wanted. Thanks again for your kindness.

Via Email: We received the packages late today. I am pretty much speechless. The sheer magnitude of this generosity is unbelievable. Thank you doesn’t even suffice, but nevertheless, please tell all involved what an absolutely awesome, magnificent thing they have done.

Dear MOST Angels,    Thank you so much for the amazing box of gifts that you sent for our family this holiday season. As you must know, this has been an extremely challenging year for our whole family, but we have found ourselves surrounded by so many unexpected blessings from people all around that we’ve been lucky to shield the kids from most of it. We can’t thank you enough!
