“Back to Sleep”- Does it affect rolling development?
When the “Back to Sleep” campaign was introduced 20 years ago to help prevent SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), some medical professionals worried that reducing the time babies spent on their stomachs would affect their ability to roll over. But a new Canadian study shows they needn’t have worried. The recently published study looked at the rolling abilities and motor skills of 725 infants from 1 week to 8 months old and found that their ability to roll was much the same as it was among infants 20 years ago.
